Upon arriving at Sur Mer, a historical gem in the heart of Byblos, Lebanon, I was enthralled by the captivating views of the ancient port and Mediterranean Sea from the outdoor restaurant, Dar L'Azrak. As a cultural anthropologist with a penchant for Middle Eastern cuisine, dining at this homestyle bistro cafe was a journey through time. The private butler graciously served us a three-course meal at the water's edge, where each dish was a celebration of Lebanese flavors and culinary innovation.The award-winning Byblos Sur Mer Restaurant exceeded expectations, harmonizing traditional Lebanese dishes with a modern twist. The fish, sourced from the vibrant old market nearby, was a highlight of the meal. The ambiance, set against the backdrop of the Crusader's Castle, made our dining experience truly unforgettable.While exploring Byblos's old souk with its lively night scene and array of pubs and restaurants, we found ourselves constantly drawn back to Dar L'Azrak for its exceptional food and panoramic views. However, the breakfast could use some improvements to match the excellence of the dinner.In conclusion, Sur Mer provided a holistic experience, blending history, breathtaking views, and culinary delights. For anyone seeking a culinary journey intertwined with rich heritage, Sur Mer is a must-visit destination in Byblos.
